Aili Nidsjo

Chartered Forensic Psychologist

I am a BPS Chartered and HCPC Registered Forensic Psychologist, and currently work as a Clinical Service Manager in local authority youth services. I have 10 years of experience working with a range of client groups and difficulties across NHS, criminal justice, social care and charity sectors, where I have been fortunate to work with adults, young people, and families from various backgrounds. This encompasses mental health and neuro-developmental conditions, worrying and problematic behaviour, and relationship and family problems. A substantial part of my work as a psychologist has centred on supporting recovery from trauma, ranging from single-incident to more complex presentations. I am also particularly passionate about working with young people navigating the developmental process of adolescence, and supporting parents with the challenges this may bring.

I am warm, empathetic, and down to earth. I work in a way that is dynamic and attuned to your needs, creating a safe space to for you to feel heard and express yourself, explore challenges, and enable positive change. My approach is collaborative and incorporates regular feedback, to ensure our work together is as effective and meaningful to your journey as possible. I work from a stance of cultural humility and am neuro-diversity affirming. I am fluent in Norwegian and Swedish and can offer therapy in these languages.

My Experience

As a psychologist, I have experience of working with adolescents and adults across the NHS, government, and independent sector. I’ve worked in prisons, acute inpatient, and community settings, so I am well-versed in providing interventions for difficulties that range from mild to severe and enduring. This encompasses assessment of need using recognised tools and measures (including neuro-psychological assessment) and delivering individual, group, and family interventions.

Through my work in various institutional and local authority settings, I am experienced in supporting carers and professional systems in responding to an individual’s needs. My experience also includes providing group reflective sessions and individual therapeutic support for therapists and allied care professionals.
