Dr Constantina Markides
I am an accredited Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC).
I offer a collaborative and compassionate approach, focused not only on supporting clients to overcome symptoms, but on finding a way to make meaning of their experiences, discover their values and lead their life according to these, doing what matters to them as individuals.
I am committed to using therapies that have demonstrated research evidence supporting their effectiveness with specific difficulties. However, I often integrate different approaches in order to best fit the complex needs of the individuals I work with. I currently offer therapy remotely and face to face, this can be in English and Greek.
My Experience
I have over 10 years experience working in psychological therapy services and culturally diverse areas in the NHS. I work with children, young people and their families in an NHS CAMHS Tier 3 service. I have experience working with older adults, adults and children with a range of mental health difficulties, including first episode psychosis, severe OCD, low self-esteem, low mood and anxiety, eating disorders as well as relationship or learning difficulties. In my current NHS position, I am also involved in providing autism assessments and offering evidence-based interventions to those with a neurodiverse cognitive profile such as autism and I also provide parenting support.
My final year doctoral specialism was with the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust within their Whole Family Service and Perinatal Mental Health service. My doctoral thesis focused on self-compassion meditation and disordered eating.
I enjoy working with individuals as well as families, couples and groups across all ages. I have a particular interest in working with individuals to support them to overcome low mood, social/ health or generalised anxiety, low self-esteem, obsessive compulsive disorder, phobias, or disordered eating in order to lead a personally meaningful and fulfilling life.
I am able to offer an initial free 15 minute video-call to discuss what you are hoping to get out of therapy and consider ways forward. I am also able to offer online group therapy to overcome OCD for children and their parents, adolescents and adults for a reduced price.
