Jasenka Hoffmann
I am a Psychotherapist, a member of the British Psychological Society, the British Association of Art Therapy and the Croatian Psychological Chamber.
I work with children, adolescents, adults and families to support them in understanding and managing various emotional difficulties, communication and relationship struggles and life transitions. I have years of experience working with children who are neurodivergent and are impacted by an autism spectrum, attention difficulties, learning issues, and a range of cognitive, emotional and behavioural needs. I am skilled and trained as an autism spectrum assessor for both children and adults. My approach is integrative and is focused on an individual’s needs. I use a combination of focus-solution structured individual session plans and therapeutic interventions with children, adolescents and adults to work on generalized anxiety, specific anxieties and fears, such as school and social anxieties, low mood, psychosomatic issues, compulsive behaviours such as compulsive eating issues and a wide range of struggles which are impacting badly on a one life’s quality.
I specialise in practising Clinical Expressive Art Therapy, based on the Jungian and Gestalt theoretical principles. I implement art therapy modalities and techniques in individual, relationship and family or small peer group sessions and the interventions from this approach are used as interventions focused on recognizing, exploring and learning to cope with various emotions, such as different fears, anger and sadness, or as a part of the working on confidence and creativity. Art therapy modalities that I primarily use are from the range of visual arts. I studied at the Academy of the Visual Arts and I am passionate about exploring different drawing techniques. I exhibited my drawings and collage artworks in group and solo exhibitions in the UK, across Europe and in the U.S. and I enjoy participating in art workshops.
As a Therapist, I am creative, patient empathic and committed to working with clients on their process of exploring their feelings and needs and developing skills to make positive changes that will help to reduce emotional distress.
My Experience
In my 10 years of post – qualification experience as a Therapist, I worked in both the public and private sectors, in different settings with children and adolescents; at the Paediatric Clinic, Special Education Schools and Child and Family Therapy provision Centers, in the UK and abroad, offering specialist psychological services.
With adults, my experience is in the private and public sectors as well, in the Mental Health Services; General Hospital Psychiatric Department and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Mental Wellbeing Services for a range of companies, providing brief assessments, mental health consultations and solution-focused therapy for employees and their family members.
I have extensive experience working with children, young people and adults experiencing mental health and emotional difficulties and supporting families, including situations where there are adjustment needs to neurodevelopmental conditions.
