James Lloyd

CBT and EMDR Therapist Online

I am a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and Supervisor, an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner and an IFS Certified therapist. I have worked in mental health services for over ten years, supporting adults through private practice, occupational health and Employee Assistance Programme services.

I have experience working with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, panic attacks, depression, trauma and PTSD, low self-esteem, work-related stress, health anxiety, phobias and relationship difficulties. I also work with people who may not have a specific diagnosis but feel stuck in recurring patterns or want to understand themselves more fully.

My Experience

MY EXPERIENCE

My approach is collaborative, practical and tailored to each person. I aim to provide a calm and supportive space where clients can make sense of what is happening, understand the patterns that may be keeping difficulties going and develop meaningful ways forward.

Alongside my clinical practice, I teach Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at postgraduate level and provide clinical supervision to other therapists. I have also published research examining the use of imagery rescripting in social anxiety disorder.

    WHO I WORK WITH

I work with adults experiencing anxiety disorders, panic, depression, trauma and PTSD, low self-worth, perfectionism, stress, grief, relationship difficulties and the impact of difficult childhood experiences.

    THERAPEUTIC APPROACHES

I draw primarily on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR and Internal Family Systems therapy. CBT can help clients understand and change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour. EMDR can support the processing of distressing or traumatic experiences, while IFS offers a compassionate way of understanding conflicting emotions and protective patterns.

The approach used depends on the client's needs, preferences and goals rather than applying the same model to everyone.

    AVAILABILITY

I offer online appointments to adults. Current availability can be confirmed through the MGM Psychology team.
